Teen Defies Anti-Vax Parents, Speaks Out

An 18-year-old Ohio teen has defied his anti-vax parents by taking his health into his own hands and getting himself vaccinated. 

Ethan Lindenberger shared his experience on Reddit, saying his parents “think vaccines are some kind of government scheme. It’s stupid and I’ve had countless arguments over the topic. But, because of their beliefs I’ve never been vaccinated for anything, god knows how I’m still alive.” 

Lindenberger decided to get vaccinated after receiving information from his local health department.

He says his 16-year-old brother also wants to get vaccinated, but must wait until he’s legally old enough to do so on his own.

As for telling his mother, Lindenberger later told “Fox and Friends,” “This issue is more important than accidentally hurting someone’s feelings for just disagreeing with them. And reaffirming that encouragement that I love her has allowed me to do that and pursue this story publicly.”

He has had five vaccinations, so far, BBC reports.
