Snooker champion Peter Ebdon promoted 9/11 theory on BBC
The BBC has been criticised after one of its presenters allowed a former snooker champion to promote conspiracy theorists who claim that the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York was a hoax and that vaccines are dangerous.
The corporation was accused of the “spread of dangerous health misinformation at a vital time” after Mark Chapman, a Radio 5 Live sports presenter, failed to challenge Peter Ebdon’s views.
Ebdon, who was world champion in 2002, said that social distancing “probably is harmful” and that people could be healed simply by sending them thoughts.
Chapman, who earns about £230,000 a year, failed to challenge Ebdon throughout the 22-minute interview and at one point asked if the public needed to be more open-minded.
