QAnon

‘You’re A Member Of Congress, Marjorie’: GOP House Member Blasts QAnon-Friendly Marjorie Taylor Greene

Topline

Cogresswoman-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who has promoted QAnon and has been a spigot of disinformation around presidential election results, appears to already be getting on the nerves of one of her Republican House colleagues—Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas),a popular Congressman who reminded Greene on Friday she is a member of Congress and told her to “start acting like one.”

Key Facts

Greene quoted a tweet from Crenshaw on Friday and claimed that Crenshaw was showing a “loser mindset” after he said of the election that “we must accept the final results when it is over,” while adding that he felt there was very little trust in the election process.

Greene has been a constant stream of disinformation since the election, repeating false claims about rampant election fraud and consistently tweeting “STOP THE STEAL!” while many of her tweets have been blocked for misleading information.

Greene is the first elected member of Congress to have openly embraced the QAnon conspiracy, which claims a globalist cabal of Satanic child sex traffickers is conspiring against President Donald Trump and to generally destroy western values.

Despite rampant support in the past, Greene claimed in August that QAnon “doesn’t represent” her.

Rep. Mark Walker (R-Ala.) also chimed in on the Twitter exchange, saying “Hey Dan, some folks don’t have a Qlue,” while expressing support for the Republican who lost to Greene in the primary.

Both Greene and Crenshaw easily won their elections over Democratic challengers.

Crucial Quote

“Did you even read past the first sentence? Or are you just purposely lying so you can talk tough?” Crenshaw said. “No one said give up. I literally said investigate every irregularity and use the courts. You’re a member of Congress now, Marjorie. Start acting like one.”

Key Background

President Donald Trump has openly embraced Greene and refused to denounce the QAnon conspiracy, even as other top Republicans have expressed concern with some of her statements. House minority whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) in June said some of Greene’s past comments were “disgusting” and racist, endorsing her Republican primary opponent along with House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). After Greene won her primary in northwestern Georgia’s heavily-Republican 14th Congressional district, McCarthy said he would “welcome” Greene in the House, while denouncing QAnon.
