GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw tells Marjorie Taylor Greene to ‘start acting like a member of Congress’

As the country waited for the presidency to be called, tensions ran high among members of Congress – specifically between Republican incumbents and newly elected members of Congress.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-TX, who won reelection for his second term in the House, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, a newly elected member of the House, went back and forth on Twitter Friday after Green criticized Crenshaw.

“If Trump loses, he loses. It was never an impossible outcome and we must accept the final results when it is over.” Crenshaw tweeted Friday, before news organizations declared Biden the victor. “But the unfortunate reality is that there is very little trust in the process, where irregularities have been flagrant and transparency lacking.”

Greene responded to Crenshaw’s tweet sayings that “The time to STAND UP for (President Donald Trump) is RIGHT NOW” and that “President Trump has fought for us, we have to fight for him. We won’t forget. Trust me.”

Crenshaw immediately shot back at green asking her if she “read past the first sentence” of his tweet or if she was just trying to “talk tough,” before telling her, “You’re a member of Congress now, Marjorie. Start acting like one.”

The online tussle between Crenshaw and Greene is an example of the split in the GOP as Trump continues to push forward unproven claims of the election being stolen from him as votes continued to be counted after Election Day.

Several Republicans, like Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, have backed the president while others, like Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah and Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois have criticized the president’s claims. Many members of the GOP have stayed silent on the issue.

Greene is one of several Republicans that ran for Congress that are supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory. She will now serve Georgia 14th District, after winning nearly 74% of the votes.

Greene has also completely backed the president’s claims that this election is being “stolen,” even tweeting “STOP THE STEAL” many times this past week.

Several of Greene’s tweets have also been flagged by Twitter, saying that some or all parts of the tweet contain misinformation about the election. Greene even tweeted Thursday that “Twitter censored me ALL day yesterday.”
