Antivaxers exploit confusion over Oxford coronavirus vaccine | News
Anti-vaccination activists have seized on criticism of Astrazeneca’s vaccine data to back up unsubstantiated theories about safety, as concerns mount that perceived trial flaws could harm trust in science.
Researchers have warned that leaders of the antivax and science denial movement will exploit any changes in public health advice or confusion over trial data.
Scientists at Oxford University, who have been working with Astrazeneca, faced questions over their vaccine trials when it emerged that their best result of 90 per cent effectiveness followed an error in how the strength of one batch given to volunteers was measured.
It later emerged that the dose had been given to a sub-set of participants, with the majority receiving a dose that appeared to be 62 per cent effective.
