2020 Election

Election lawsuit cites fraud in Michigan county that does not exist

An election lawsuit by Sidney Powell, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, cites a witness who claims to have seen something strange with the votes counted in Michigan’s Edison County.

Here’s the thing: You can’t point to Edison County on your Michigan hand. And not because it’s in the Upper Peninsula.

Because, well, there is no Edison County in Michigan.

“In another case for Edison County, MI,” the claim reads, “Vice President Biden received more than 100% of the votes at 5:59 EST on November 4, 2020 and again he received 99.61% of the votes at 2:23 PM EST on November 5, 2020. These distributions are cause for concern and indicate fraud.”

There is no Edison Township in Michigan either.

There is an Edison Township in New Jersey. There is an Edison, Ohio. But just not in Michigan.

Powell has filed several lawsuits in key election states where President-elect Joe Biden has won, many containing unfounded conspiracy theories and errors.

There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in Michigan, or Wayne County, the latter of which had its election certification delayed this month and sparked nationwide criticism.

However, the Michigan board certified its election Nov. 23, showing Biden winning by approximately 154,000 more votes than Trump.

With all errors, naturally, some people online are having fun with the claim.

And some are coming with theories on the elusive Edison County.
