Sidney Powell: There’s Still Time for Trump to Overturn Election Results
A lawyer who filed lawsuits to help President Donald Trump overturn the result of elections in several states said there is plenty of time for the team to work.
”With the fraud case, the Dec. 8 deadline doesn’t apply,” Sidney Powell told Newsmax on Friday, referring to the Dec. 8 “safe harbor” deadline that frees a state from challenges if it is able to resolve disputes before sending electors to the Electoral College on Dec. 14.
”We have at least until Dec. 14,” Powell said, referring to the Electoral College vote date.
”We might file more suits. The court in Michigan or Wisconsin today just gave us a great order recognizing that. These are not pure election contests we are filing,” Powell said. “These are massive fraud suits that can set aside the results of the election due to this fraud at any time. The states should not be certifying election results in the face of it.”
Powell, who represented retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, has filed several lawsuits to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Trump’s team last month said that Powell was not a part of their team after she made an appearance alongside Rudy Giuliani and fellow Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis.
Several states and media outlets so far have called Joe Biden the winner. The Epoch Times hasn’t declared a winner in the presidential contest due to the outstanding lawsuits and other processes.
A hearing was scheduled for Dec. 7 in Powell’s lawsuit attempting to convince a judge to allow outside experts to examine Dominion Voting Systems machines in Georgia.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten Sr., a George W. Bush appointee, scheduled the hearing after an appeals court dismissed an appeal from the plaintiffs, represented by Powell and others.
It came after an appeals court denied the appeal last week.
“This appeal arises from last-minute litigation that alleges widespread election related misconduct and seeks sweeping relief. The issue before us, however, is a narrow question of appellate jurisdiction: has the district court entered an order that we have jurisdiction to review?” an appeals court panel wrote in a 12-page opinion. “Because the answer to that question is ‘no,’ we must dismiss this appeal for lack of jurisdiction and allow the proceedings to continue in the district court.”
Powell also alleged that some witnesses who reported election fraud were harassed and threatened in recent days.
“They’re gonna lose their job. Their lives have been threatened. One witness we know of got beaten up and is in the hospital. There have been all kinds of repercussions against people who have come forward to tell the truth,” Powell told Fox News, without elaborating.
