COVID-19

Here it comes: If you want to board a plane or travel internationally, you’re going to have to have a COVID “vaccine passport”

If you’re still on the fence about whether governments and big corporations are conspiring to exert maximum control over anyone who isn’t a member of the political and business elite using the COVID-19 pandemic as justification, this should convince you that they are.

We’re being led to believe that in order to make the world safe from a virus that is going to fade over time like the other viruses that came before it (SARS, MERS, swine flu, etc.), we are going to have to accept some new normals, and that will include being forced to take, and then prove you’ve taken, a COVID-19 vaccine.

And of the ‘new normal’ things we’re going to be forced to accept is something called a “COVID passport” or “immunity passport.”

In short, you won’t be able to do much of anything — get on a plane, go to a movie, attend a concert, or get into many buildings (including government facilities) unless you show your vaccine passport. And naturally, to get a passport you’re going to have to get a vaccine.

Already, big government advocates are talking about ways to adopt these passports. And already, big corporations — especially airlines — are implementing rules requiring them, beginning with Singapore Airlines.

A press release from the company states:

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has started trials on a new digital health verification process, which will be the first in the world to be based on the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Travel Pass framework. This will offer customers the ability to securely store and present information related to Covid-19 tests, as well as their vaccination status in the future.

This service will initially be offered from 23 December to customers travelling [sic] on flights operated by Singapore Airlines from Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. If successful, this could be extended to other cities in the SIA route network.

“Covid-19 tests and vaccinations will be an integral part of air travel for the foreseeable future,” said JoAnn Tan, acting senior vice president of marketing and planning for the airline.

“We are offering a digital solution that allows the easy and secure verification of this information, and supports the industry’s safe and calibrated recovery from this pandemic,” she added. “Using IATA’s robust Travel Pass framework would also provide our customers and governments with the assurance that they need about the security and authenticity of the test and vaccination information.”

“Partnering with Singapore Airlines for the world’s first deployment of the Timatic Covid-19 module of the IATA Travel Pass is a big step forward,” added Nick Careen, a senior VP with the IATA.

“Together we will demonstrate that people can return to travel with confidence that they are meeting all government Covid-19 entry requirements. We already have plans to add additional features in the New Year. This will help ensure that SIA’s customers will be among the first to benefit as governments re-open their borders with testing or vaccination requirements. And the experience gained through collaboration helps prepare for the eventual global deployment of the IATA Travel Pass,” he continued.

Got that? You, the passenger/consumer aren’t being asked what you think about the implementation of this massive travel restriction, you’re being told to either accept it or don’t travel. (Related: Heathrow Airport in London testing covid-19 “passport technology” that will force air travelers to submit to vaccines.)

And while there may be huge constitutional issues in the United States with the imposition of mandated requirements to travel, there are no such protections in other countries so they are free to do as they please.

Speaking of the U.S., so-called “vaccine passports” are already being pushed domestically as well.

An op-ed by Aaron Schwid, director of public health law at Vital Strategies, and Dr. Tom Frieden, a former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under President Obama and president and chief executive of Resolve to Save Lives, an initiative of Vital Strategies, published by the Washington Post last week lays it all out.
