2020 Election

Alan Zuckerman | Stop Supporting Voter Fraud Claims

Donald Trump himself put Republican Chris Krebs in charge of making sure the election would be fair and devoid of fraud. Krebs was included in a joint statement with members of the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council, CISA assistant director, the National Secretaries of State, and others that called the 2020 election the “most secure in American history.” CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council are under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security. The statement from the agencies said “there is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”

Keep in mind, many lawsuits were filed around the country claiming voter fraud, and each one was dismissed as meritless. The Supreme Court voted 9-0 not even to hear the baseless claims from the attorney general of Texas. Gabriel Sterling, a proud Republican, refuted Trump’s baseless claims line by line when Trump claimed fraud and wanted Georgia to “recalculate” votes and take them from Biden.

This is a direct quote from Rep. Mike Garcia: “I want to ensure all Americans have confidence in our elections.” I believe that was accomplished in abundance. Garcia’s vote to not certify the Electoral College votes of swing states was playing to the conspiracy theories and lies that have nearly destroyed our democracy and contributed to the lack of confidence in the election. Sadly, by voting to continue to review elections already extensively audited, you contributed to fellow Americans believing the conspiracy theories and lies. Mike, you won by a slim margin of 333 votes. Confidence in local elections is incidentally much harder to prove due to the lower numbers of votes, and yet you are comfortable in your win.

It is time for you, in your leadership role, to honestly take your oath to the American people and not participate in supporting false claims.
