Letter: Governments cause conspiracy theories
David Robert Grimes expresses concern about the number of individuals influenced by health disinformation and conspiracy theories and wonders how such people should be managed (“Suspicious minds”, Life & Arts, FT Weekend, February 6).
Perhaps the real question is why so many intelligent people now embrace conspiracy theories and health disinformation. Might it be something to do with the fact that successive governments (on a worldwide basis), strive to ensure that a small but powerful and wealthy elite continues to prosper at the expense of everyone else?
If governments kept even some of their pre-election promises, there might be more trust and fewer “suspicious minds”. Just a thought.
