‘South Park’ episode puts Akron at center of QAnon vaccine conspiracy
Akron has found itself at the center of pop culture.
The latest “South Park” episode that premiered this week takes a satirical look at the desperation to get a COVID-19 vaccine and also QAnon theories.
The Akron reference is about 11 minutes into the 46-minute episode when a group of “South Park conspiracy followers try to figure out a message from Q himself delivered by the “chosen one.”
Bob White, a character in the show, says he was able to decipher the message thanks to the postings of fictional QAnon follower “David Harris of Akron, Ohio.”
It was Harris, White said, who purported that the “elite use Latin to send messages.”
The episode centers on the madness in the town as folks scramble for a vaccine and the kids scheme to secure shots for their teachers.
Like other “South Park” offerings, the uncensored “South ParQ Vaccination Episode” that can be screened for free at https://southpark.cc.com/ pushes social and cultural boundaries with some pretty raunchy language and images mixed in.
While the show is about kids, it is certainly not suitable for them.
The vaccine episode is the second installment in the animated show’s 24th season.
