Photos from the riot showed Jensen in front of a mob headed toward Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman while wearing a shirt associated with the discredited QAnon conspiracy theory.

QAnon conspiracy theories include the belief that former President Trump was fighting satanic, cannibalistic pedophiles at the highest level of government.

After Jensen’s arrest in January, federal officials said he still followed the debunked far-right conspiracy theory.

Federal court documents obtained Monday ask that Jensen be released from jail and claim that he now feels duped by QAnon.

The filing claims Jensen traveled to Washington D.C. to observe a QAnon-predicted event called “The Storm” and that he never led anyone or intended to harm Goodman.

Jensen claims he stayed in front of the group in a “now-disclosed silly reason to get ‘Q’ recognized” for what took place.

Jensen’s attorney described him as “languishing in a D.C. jail cell, locked down most of the time. He feels deceived, recognizing that he bought into a pack of lies.”

Court documents state that Jensen’s dysfunctional childhood and fierce protectiveness of his family primed him to be a “victim.”

“He came to D.C. to support the president; he did not foresee the destruction of his family,” court documents said.

The filing said Jensen’s wife is willing to drive him home to Des Moines, where he would remain under house arrest if released.

Jensen is scheduled to appear at an arraignment Tuesday before a federal judge and may be working toward a plea deal.

His most serious carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
