Great Reset

QAnon Supporter Awaiting ‘Great Reset’ Tried Murdering Girlfriend in Bath

A follower of the QAnon conspiracy attacked his pregnant girlfriend in the bath while he awaited a “great reset” event on the date of Joe Biden‘s inauguration.

Anthony Beckett, 33, of Middlesbrough, North East England, has been jailed for 10 years after previously pleading guilty to the attempted murder of his victim on January 18.

Teesside Crown Court heard how Beckett had become obsessed with conspiracy theories around the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. 2020 election, as well as thinking that the Chinese were after him.

Beckett also kept a machete, knives, and a homemade noose hidden around his home after becoming consumed by the election.

He had also been convinced that “the great reset” was on the way on January 20 and had “discussed the need to kill the family,” reported Teesside Live.

The “great reset” is a conspiracy that shares its name from an actual plan by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to help revive the world’s economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The false claim centers around the belief that world leaders and global elites somehow planned the pandemic for their own personal gains.

January 20 was also a hugely significant date for QAnon supporters as the day they believed Donald Trump would finally carry out a prophecy known as “the storm” and publicly arrest and execute the satanic pedophiles and “deep state” working against him at Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony in Washington D.C.

After discussing the “great reset,” Beckett allegedly promised to seek medical help if nothing happened on January 20.

After his mental health continued to spiral, Beckett attacked his partner with a hammer, striking her four times as she washed her hair in the bath two days beforehand.

“She describes it like a wrecking ball to her head,” Jo Kidd, prosecuting, told the court, via The Northern Echo.

“She described four blows with the hammer and an unrelenting attack with a clear aim of killing her.

“He was saying ‘I need to do this, I need to do this.’”

Kidd said Beckett then put his hands around his partner’s neck and started to drown her in the water.

“He was squeezing her throat hard and she was struggling, trying to unhook the plug and reduce the water level; to reduce her risk of being held under the water and drowning,” Kidd said.

“He repeatedly tried to get her head under the water. She was terrified and terrified for the safety of their children. She thought he would kill her and their children.”

The woman managed to escape and flee the home before screaming in the street for help while naked.

Beckett later told the police he had asked his partner if she would die “before the Chinese arrived,” Teesside Live reported.

Jonathan Walker, mitigating, said the defendant, who has a long history of mental illness, had no recollection of what happened that night after suffering a psychotic episode.

“Thankfully, after this psychotic episode, when he began to collect his thoughts, his first words were for his children and for his partner,” Walker added. “That has been the case throughout these proceedings.”

While sentencing him to 10 years in jail, Judge Penny Moreland told Beckett: “At the time of committing this offense, you were suffering from a brief psychotic disorder or cannabis-induced psychotic disorder. You were aware of the risk of drug-induced psychosis.”

In a statement to Newsweek, Cleveland Police Detective Chief Inspector Jayne Downes said: “This was a horrific attack on a young woman who must have been absolutely terrified.

“It was not an easy case to investigate but we were determined to seek justice for the victim, so we were very pleased when we were able to secure enough evidence for Beckett to be charged with attempted murder.

“The lengthy sentence issued at court yesterday reflects the gravity of the offense and I hope it brings a degree of comfort to the young woman involved.

“Our dedicated team works tirelessly to protect and safeguard victims of domestic abuse and to deal with perpetrators.
