Letter: Election fraud allegations already decided by courts

“Democratic Party has some issues of its own,” (Reading Eagle, June 24) states, with reference to fraud allegations in the 2020 presidential election: “There’s one way to clear this up.” One way? How about 86 ways? That’s the number of judges who dismissed lawsuits that President Donald Trump’s campaign filed to contest the election outcome. Many of these judges were Trump appointees, so claims of partisan bias are dead on arrival.

Trump supporters will keep pushing to clear this up until they get the answer they want. In the process, the former president’s allies, particularly those in Congress, are daily undermining democracy by continuing to maintain that the election was stolen.

A functioning democracy relies on the consensus that the true outcome of an election actually matters. Wishing won’t make it so. Trump lost again and again and again. Believe it.
