Sajid Javid condemns ‘vile’ antivax protests at test site
The health secretary has condemned the “vile behaviour” of anti-vaccine protesters who stormed a coronavirus testing site, shouting abuse at staff and stealing test equipment.
Sajid Javid said he was “appalled” after seeing footage of the “mob”, led by Piers Corbyn, taking over the facility in the centre of Milton Keynes yesterday.
Videos of the protest, shared on social media, showed staff taking cover as protesters chanted: “Shame on you.” Others accused staff of being “fascists”, “cowards” and “murderers”.
A later video from inside one of the marquees used for testing showed a woman grabbing test kits and equipment, using a large plastic box to take them away. She was filmed dumping the equipment into a bin.
