2020 Election

Poll: 32 percent of American voters believe Biden won the 2020 election by fraud

About one-third of American voters believe that US President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election by voter fraud, according to a new Monmouth University poll released on Thursday.

Thirty-two percent of voters attributed Biden’s victory in the 2020 election to voter fraud, while 72 percent say Biden won “fair and square,” according to the Monmouth poll.

Forty-one percent of respondents in the Monmouth poll said voter fraud is a “major problem” while another 28 percent said it is a “minor problem.” About 29 percent do not believe that voter fraud is a problem.

Meanwhile, some 17 percent of Americans believe there may be a path to replace Biden with former Republican President Donald Trump before the next presidential election in 2024.

They believe they still see a path to reinstating Trump sometime in the next two-and-a-half or so years. Six percent say they “definitely” see a path to replacing Biden with Trump, while 11 percent say there “probably” is.

The vast majority of those surveyed in the Monmouth poll say there’s not a path for Trump to be reinstalled in the White House before the 2024 presidential election.

Trump, who believes that the election was rigged by the US establishment in favor of Biden, has been casting doubt on the outcome of his loss by insisting it was the result of fraud.

Trump has said that the 2020 election was “the greatest Election Hoax in history.”

Trump’s claims have significantly delegitimatized the democratic process in the United States. A recent poll has found that at least 50 percent of Republican voters surveyed believe their vote will not be counted accurately the next time they cast a ballot.

Another recent survey from NPR showed similar results as just 33 percent of Republicans said they thought the 2024 elections would be conducted fairly.

Overall, 58 percent of respondents in that poll said they trusted elections in the United States a great deal or a good amount.

According to other recent surveys, most Republicans believe that the election was stolen from Trump, and he is the legitimate president of the United States.

Trump’s supporters stormed the US Capitol in the hope of preventing lawmakers from certifying Biden’s victory, thus overturning the outcome of the 2020 presidential election but to no avail.

Angry protesters clashed with police and tried to beat up a number of Democratic lawmakers. They also damaged some parts of the building housing both wings of Congress.

Biden: Trump is a ‘defeated former president’

Speaking earlier this month at the US Capitol on the anniversary of the brief January 6 occupation of that building by a large crowd of Americans protesting the outcome of the disputed 2020 election, Biden accused Trump of posing “a continuing threat to democracy.”

He declared Trump a “defeated former president.”

“Let’s speak plainly about what happened in 2020,” Biden said.

“Even before the first ballot was cast, the former president was preemptively sowing doubt about the election results,” he said. “He built his lie over months. It wasn’t based in any facts. He was just looking for an excuse, a pretext to cover for the truth.”

“He’s not just a former president. He’s a defeated former president,” Biden continued.

“Defeated by a margin of over 7 million of your votes, and a full and free and fair election. There is simply zero proof the election results were inaccurate,” he claimed.
