Trudeau Is Playing His Part for the Great Reset – Ricochet

We have all heard or seen the comments by Trudeau that the government he most admires is that of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I just finished reading “What Is the Great Reset” by Michael Rectenwald in the December 2021 edition of Imprimis, a publication of Hillsdale College. Here is his succinct description of the topic:

Another way of describing the goal of the Great Reset is “capitalism with Chinese characteristics”—a two-tiered economy, with profitable monopolies and the state on top and socialism for the majority below.

Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben calls it “communist capitalism”. Agamben is known mainly for his concept of the “state of exception” and for arguing, and seeming to demonstrate empirically, that the overriding of all constitutional or legal limits by state power has become the norm, not a “crisis” or a “state of emergency” but a sort of permanent state of emergency. So crushing of human and legal rights by reference to some crisis or emergency is the principal form of government – or better governance in the world today, including in the western democratic states.

Towards the end of his Imprimis article taken from a presentation he made in November 2021 at Hillsdale College, Rectenwald says the Covid crisis has accelerated the Great Reset.

Monopolistic corporations have consolidated their grip on the economy from above, while socialism continues for the rest of us below. In partnership with Big Digital, Big Pharma, the mainstream media, national and international health agencies, and compliant populations, hitherto democratic Western states–think especially of Australia, New Zealand, and Austria–are being transformed into totalitarian regimes modeled after China.

Now we see the fruits of Trudeau’s thoughts as he adds Canada to that list of Western states going for totalitarian rule.

What should we expect in the United States as those working on the Great Reset try to speed up their timetable after being interrupted by President Trump?
