Experts find top 25 UFO-spotting sites in UK as E.T celebrates 40th anniversary – Coventry Live

A hotel booking site has revealed the UK’s top UFO-spotting holiday hotspots to celebrate the 40th anniversary of popular film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. It analysed UFO (Unidentified Flying Objects) sighting data in the most popular UK holiday destinations.

Following the findings, the site has partnered with the ex-Ministry of Defence (MoD) lead UFO investigator, Nick Pope, to provide tips to Brits hoping to seek out extra-terrestrial experiences and find their own E.T. LateRooms.com analysed how many possible extra-terrestrial sightings there have been in the 25 most popular holiday destinations.

Ranking the top 25 holiday locations by the number of sightings, it was found that Yorkshire is the top holiday destination to visit for the best chance of an other-worldly experience. East Riding of Yorkshire tops the list, followed by North Yorkshire and Kent.

Britain’s top 10 UK UFO-spotting holiday hotspots are:

  1. East Riding of Yorkshire

  2. North Yorkshire

  3. Kent

  4. Lancashire

  5. Lincolnshire

  6. Somerset

  7. Cornwall

  8. Devon

  9. Cumbria

  10. Derbyshire

The holiday letting site used UFO Identified’s 2021 report to compile the findings, which it compared with its own internal data of the most popular locations for holiday bookings over the past 12 months. As well as revealing the number of sightings in each UK county, the UFO organisation’s report revealed that in 2021 there were 333 extra-terrestrial sightings in England, with 43 alleged sightings in Scotland, 25 in Wales and nine in Northern Ireland.

In the report, the organisation revealed that the most likely time to see a UFO is on a Saturday between 9pm and 10pm. It also suggests that September is the best month to spot unexplained sightings in the sky.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released in 1982 and, after winning a number of awards, quickly became regarded as one of the best films of all time. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film follows the story of an alien who is left behind on Earth and found by a young boy.

Nick Pope said: “Long, hot summer evenings are the perfect time for a skywatch and this list of UFO hotspots are the perfect place to have your own close encounter.”

Matthew Fox, CEO of LateRooms.com, said: “To celebrate the 40th anniversary of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, a film loved by many, we at LateRooms.com wanted to share with fellow lovers of the film and those with an interest in the mysteries contained in the night sky the best places to go to find an E.T. of their own. Analysing the UFO Identified report, we were shocked to see just how many objects in the night sky have been spotted by Brits across the country. We hope the list of the UK’s top UFO-spotting holiday hotspots, along with the tips from a leading ex-government UFO expert, is helpful to those looking for an ‘out of this world’ experience.”
