Where to spot UFOs in Lancashire and Cumbria
The debate surrounding the existence of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) will most probably rage on for many years to come. But if you’re firmly in the camp, believing there’s more ET-style beings out there, then you have a decent chance to spot them in Lancashire and Cumbria.
Seven calls relating to UFO sightings were made to Lancashire Constabulary in 2021, according to a Freedom of Information request. One was allegedly from a man who saw an alien in his kitchen, while a stargazer claims to have spotted ‘strange lights’ over Pendle Hill as recently as April 2022.

In May 2021, a ‘cylindrical UFO’ was spotted in Cleveleys, while a ‘meteor UFO’ was seen in Blackburn and a person who claimed to have been abducted by aliens in February 2020, then saw ‘lights in eh sky’ in November 2021. A ‘flying object’ was spotted in Chorley in June and a ‘hot air balloon fire burner’ sound was heard in the same area in September last year.
Blackpool is also a known hot spot for alien sightings, with residents reporting ‘alien brains’ underneath a pier in October 2021 and a flying object was pictured on the seafront in 2008.
You can also use a special search tool, UFO Stalker, which is an interactive map, showing the most recent sightings anywhere in the world. Meanwhile, UFO-spotting data has revealed that Lancashire is the fourth most-likely place to come across alien activity in the UK, while Cumbria sits just inside the top 10 in ninth.
Interestingly, it showed that the most likely time of day to spot a UFO is on a Saturday between 9pm and 10pm, while the month of September is the best month. The research was carried out by ex-Ministry of Defence (MoD) lead UFO investigator, Nick Pope, and LateRooms.com, of the most popular locations for holiday bookings in the past 12 months.
It revealed where Brits should head out on a staycation to find their own E.T, to mark the 40th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film. East Riding of Yorkshire is ranked the top place to UFO-spot in the country, just ahead of North Yorkshire, with Kent completing the top three.
The UFO organisation’s report revealed that in 2021 there were 333 extra-terrestrial sightings in England, with 43 alleged sightings in Scotland, 25 in Wales and nine in Northern Ireland. Nick Pope said: “Long, hot summer evenings are the perfect time for a skywatch, and this list of UFO hotspots are the perfect place to have your own close encounter.”
