Exeter UFO Festival Talks All Things Extraterrestrial On Labor Day Weekend – iHeart

EXETER, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… UFO in New Hampshire? The Exeter UFO Festival is back with a weekend full of all things UFOs for believers and skeptics alike starting Saturday, September 3.

The annual festival will have activities and educational experiences for festival-goers to enjoy. Local and national speakers, authors, and researchers will present on the topic of UFOs for the public to hear in Exeter Town Hall.

The festival is held on Labor Day weekend on the 57th anniversary of “The Incident at Exeter,” a UFO sighting that made national news. On September 3, 1965 eighteen-year-old Norman Muscarello reported to the Exeter Police that he saw an unidentified flying object behind a barn in Kensington. Two officers went to the scene and both witnessed the flashing red lights hovering in the sky, according to the Exeter Area Kiwanis Club.

“[It’s a] very well-known UFO sighting, it was also in LIFE Magazine back in the day, lights that were seen by police officers, they had over 35 people come to the police station,” Kathy of Trends Gift Gallery and Invitation Studio in Exeter told WBZ’s Shari Small.

On Saturday, trolley rides to the Kensington crash site will be available for the public to take part in. There will also be an alien costume contest for people and pets at the festival. Activities for children will take place at the Town House Common Park.

While there is still debate about the UFO occurrence more than fifty years later, the phenomenon sparked a large array of media attention around the country.

“There’s a book called “An Incident in Exeter” and a movie as well. Many people are also familiar with the Barney and Betty Hill abduction that happened up in Northern New Hampshire on that same weekend,” Kathy said.

The festival is one of the largest fundraisers for the Exeter Area Kiwanis Club, who put on the event each year. All of the proceeds go to local children’s charities, children’s programs, and community programs.

Whether a skeptic or a believer, the Exeter UFO Festival is going to be an experience out of this world.
