Aliens Hovering Over Ukraine? Kyiv’s Main Observatory Says County’s Airspace Visited By Numerous UFOs With No Military Link
Unidentified Flying Objects, or UFOs as popularly called, have become an object of public discussion, with several countries going after the uncanny phenomenon. The latest to join the bandwagon is Ukraine, whose airspace has become host to UFOs in recent months.
Vice reported that an excessive number of UFOs are flying over Ukraine, citing a new preprint paper published by Kyiv’s Main Astronomical Observatory in coordination with the country’s National Academy of Science.
The paper is titled ‘Unidentified airborne phenomena I,’ based on the events observed using data from the Main Astronomical Observatory of the NAS in Kyiv and Vinarivka, a village south of Kyiv. According to the study’s authors, observatories started looking for UFOs due to the growing interest in the subject.
“We see them everywhere,” the research said, adding, “We observe a significant number of objects whose nature is not clear.”
The study is significant as there has been an uptick in UFO sightings amid state-sponsored research. For instance, Ukraine’s top military aide, the US, announced in July that it would open a new office dedicated to UFO sightings, called the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office.
Not just that, a US House committee held an open congressional hearing on unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in May for the first time in about 50 years. It also released some videos while holding back many others for security reasons.
Besides the US, Russia also revealed that its scientists were investigating UFO sightings. In an interview with Russian Television, the head of the Russian space agency said that aliens are to blame for some of the UFO sightings with the rider and that the Russian Academy of Sciences was researching UFO sightings with nothing to do with aliens.

The Ukrainian paper does not address the war in conjunction with the sightings. In the past, the US has suggested and cautioned that certain UFOs could be cutting-edge military technology from other countries, particularly China and Russia. However, even the US Congress acknowledges now that not all UFOs are man-made.
With a bloody war being fought in Ukraine where Russia has resorted to using the latest and state-of-the-art weapons like hypersonic missiles and lasers, these sightings have invoked additional interest. However, the Ukrainian researchers have not yet found any military link with the sightings.
Ukraine’s Sky Embellished By Uncanny Phantoms!
In the nearly seven-month-old war that marred Ukraine, its airspace has been lined by warplanes, missiles, and aircraft transporting diplomats and officials from other sympathetic states. However, UFOs are the most unexpected and unpredictable visitors- especially during a bloody war.
The Ukrainian paper describes a specific type of UFO the researchers call “phantoms” that is an “object [that] is a completely black body that does not emit and absorbs all the radiation falling on it.”
The researchers also noted that capturing images of the UFOs they observed was challenging due to their rapid movement.
“The eye does not fix phenomena lasting less than one-tenth of a second,” the paper said. “It takes four-tenths of a second to recognize an event. Ordinary photo and video recordings will also not capture the [unidentified aerial phenomenon]. To detect UAP, you need to fine-tune shutter speed, frame rate, and dynamic range equipment.”
It is pertinent to note here that there have been instances where fighter jets have been dispatched to track UFOs in the past.
According to the paper, the scientists created a unique observation technique, considering the objects’ fast speeds. The exposure period was selected to ensure that the object’s picture did not noticeably change during exposure.
The frame rate was determined with the object’s speed and the camera’s area of view in mind. In actual use, the frame rate was at least 50 Hz, and the exposure duration was less than one millisecond.
The scientists divided the phenomenon they observed into two categories: cosmics and phantoms. The scientists noted that Cosmics were luminous objects, brighter than the background of the sky, and therefore, called these ships names of birds, according to the paper. The Phantoms, on the other hand, are dark objects with contrast from several to about 50%, noted the paper.
The cameras, placed around 75 miles apart, allowed the researchers to repeatedly see unusual objects moving in the sky. According to the study, flights of individual, group, and squadrons of UFOs were detected traveling swiftly.
Phantoms were spotted in the troposphere, at altitudes of up to 10 to 12 kilometers. Their estimated size ranges from 3 to 12 meters, and they can move up to 15 km/h.
The simple explanation would be that these could be rockets, missiles, or other weapons used in the conflict. However, the scientists say that it is not evident what they are.
While the research is rare and significant for Ukraine, UFOs that were considered conspiracy theories until recently are being chased by security agencies and scientists worldwide.
