‘Cosmic’ and ‘phantom’ UFOs seen all over Ukraine’s skies, according to reports
Unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have been lighting up the skies in Kyiv, according to Space.com in a report in arXiv, published in the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Although it is possible the UFOs are military tools used in the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which started seven months ago, the sightings have been too fleeting to identify, a U.S. intelligence agency has speculated.
According to the report, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, the UFOs are fast-moving, low-visibility objects in the daytime sky over Kyiv and beyond.
Specially calibrated cameras at two weather stations in Kyiv, adjacent village Vinarivka, have been used by Ukrainian astronomers have taken to monitor dozens of objects “that cannot scientifically be identified as known natural phenomena,” the report said.
Government agencies tend to refer to such objects as UAP, short for “unidentified aerial phenomena.”

The researchers divided their UAP observations into two categories: “cosmics” and “phantoms.” According to the report, cosmics are luminous objects that are brighter than the background sky. Phantoms, on the hand, appear “completely black,” as if absorbing all light falling onto them.
The two observatories estimate that phantoms range from 10 to 40 feet (3 to 12 meters) wide and can travel at speeds of up to 33,000 mph (53,000 km/h).
STATEN ISLAND UFO SIGHTINGS
On March 15, 2022, one Staten Island resident claimed to have spotted a round-shaped object in the sky that had lights on it, and it left a long trail, according to the National UFO Reporting Center.
The privately-run organization has been logging UFO sightings across the nation since 1930 and categorizes the sightings by year and month. It also includes descriptive information, such as date, time, city and state of the sighting, shape and duration, and asks for a summary of the viewers experience.
There were seven reported UFO sightings on Staten Island in 2021, according to the website. In November, a resident reported seeing a triangular-shaped object in the sky.
“While driving home, I noticed three bright orbs, yellow-ish tint, in the sky. They were spread in a triangle formation and were stationary for several minutes. The orb to the top left then began slowly moving independently, with a green flicker. There were other aircrafts in the sky, but none that were in the immediate area of those orbs,” the report said.
