Peterborough named the UFO hotspot of East Anglia
One of the largest UFO databases in the UK, UFO Identified, has been collecting a lot of fascinating data this year. With hundreds of sightings across the UK, East Anglia is proving to be quite the UFO destination.
As Halloween approaches, many people will be watching movies like E.T and wondering about all things extra-terrestrial. Well, here in Cambridgeshire you are actually in the hotspot of the entire region for sightings of these mysterious and fascinating creatures!
Since January 2022, there have been 30 UFO sightings in East Anglia which includes Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire- with eight of these from Cambridgeshire. Cambridge, Peterborough, Huntingdon and Whittlesey have all had extra-terrestrial sightings in Cambridgeshire skies but one location has come up more than any others.

With four sightings, Peterborough is officially East Anglia’s UFO hotspot. There have been more sightings in the city than any other location in the region. Norwich is second with two UFO sightings so far this year.
The latest official sighting was on August 20 at 7.56pm when a local resident reported seeing “bright multi-coloured glimmering lights like metal, changing speed and directions moving strangely,” in the sky above Peterborough. Only a couple of weeks earlier on August 4 at 1.15 in the morning, in Peterborough “Heavy white globes with tails, moving in a straight line before changing course and shooting upwards,” were reported to have been seen to UFO Identified.
Earlier in the year in March, a “White orb stationary above the houses 80-100ft up. Slowly started to move away,” was seen in Peterborough on March 7 at 4.35am. The final sighting was on March 19 at 7.47am where a “super bright object stationary in the sky before it began to move with nearby flashes of light,” was observed.
Although UFO sightings are one of the most impossible things to prove and ultimately rely on belief and reliability of the source, Peterborough’s presence on the extra-terrestrial map of the UK certainly increases our chances of seeing some truly spooky things this Halloween.
