Pa.’s UFO sightings still among highest in U.S.: study
Editor’s note: October marks the start of “Paranormal PA,” a PennLive series that delves into Pennsylvania-grown stories of spirits (like the ghost of a murdered girl whose cries can be heard in one of Penn State’s library); cryptids (Bigfoot); oddities and legends; and the unexplained.

Many Pennsylvanians still believe the truth is out there.
The state retains its status as being among the top 10 states with the most UFO sightings.
The travel experts at Travel Lens perused data from the National UFO Reporting Center in order to deduce which states gave visitors the highest chances of spotting extraterrestrial activity.
“There have been almost 5,000 reports worldwide this year and counting, which shows that there is still a very clear belief in UFOs,” explains a Travel Lens spokesperson.
“Now, we’re not saying that if you visit these states it’s guaranteed you’ll catch an alien in the flesh. But the numbers show us that the states in the top 10 are yielding a huge number of sightings year after year.”
Without further ado, those top 10 states are: Michigan (number 10); Illinois (number nine); Ohio (number eight); Arizona (number seven); Pennsylvania (number six); New York (number five); Texas (number four); Washington (number three); Florida (number two); and California (number one).
Pennsylvania has retained this ranking since PennLive last reported on this back in January.
“It’s definitely worth doing some research and visiting these states if you have a real interest in extraterrestrial life,” adds the spokesperson. “Even if you don’t, it can be great fun with friends and family to visit new places and explore all they have to offer.”
