Flat Earth

‘Idiotic’ flat earth graffiti discovered on wall by Rhyl promenade

The vandalism, which can be seen in the above photos, makes references to “NASA lies” and “Earth’s curvature”.

It was brought to the Journal’s attention by Rhyl resident Geoff Allman, after he discovered it during a morning walk of the prom today.

He condemned the act, describing it as “idiotic”.

Mr Allman said: “It’s on the narrowest bit of the prom, behind the underground car park.

“I was walking past at about 10.15am this morning… (it is) bloody idiotic, (from people) with more time than sense.”

Cllr Justine Evans (Rhyl East ward, Denbighshire County Council) urged the police to find those responsible for an “appalling” act.

She said: “Such mindless acts of vandalism undermine all the hard work that is going on to improve Rhyl for both locals and visitors, and come at a cost to local ratepayers.

“I hope the police, with the help of the local community, will be able to track down who is responsible in this particular case so that this appalling act is not repeated.”

Likewise, Cllr Barry Mellor (Rhyl East ward, Denbighshire County Council) added: “These people just don’t understand the cost of getting rid of this type of thing.

“It certainly does no good for the image of Rhyl.”

Attempts were made to contact Denbighshire County Council and North Wales Police.
