UK’s UFO hotspots revealed as stargazing Brits recorded nearly 500 sightings in 2022

While America may be the UFO capital of the world, the UK has experienced its fair share of sightings.

In recent weeks, US fighter jets have shot down four objects over North America – one was confirmed to be a spy balloon but the other three remain unidentified.

Now, alien enthusiasts across the UK have been searching for unidentified flying objects following sightings across the pond.

Members of the public and conspiracy theorists have been fascinated by UFO sightings and extraterrestrials for decades.

According to Bonus Insider, UFOs have recently been rebranded as UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena).

A team at BonusInsider decided to analyse the nearly 500 reported UFO sightings in the UK over the last year.

Data from organised organisations dedicated to identifying UFOs and from Freedom of Information requests, 497 sightings were reported across the UK.

Whereas in 2021 only 413 sightings were recorded and 465 in 2020 – meaning sightings are on the up.

Across the three years, England recorded hundreds of more sightings than Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

There has been an increase in sightings across all countries, with the exception of Northern Ireland, which reported fewer sightings year after year.

Some believe that some of the sightings can be explained by the launch of the Star Link internet satellites, the SpaceX project that started back in 2019.

However, the Daily Star previously reported that Northern Ireland has become a UFO hotspot, according to police files between 2016 and 2022.

The publication added that most sightings are recorded between 9 pm and 10 pm on Saturdays.
