Readers respond: Conspiracy theories fuel shootings
I sit here tonight concerned because no one is talking about the reason for all these mass killings that has nothing to do with guns or mental health. It has to do with the proliferation online of conspiracy theories and the one-upmanship of who can kill the most people, the most immigrants, the most Blacks, the most Jews. However, more than anything it’s the proliferation of conspiracy theories that rile up so many citizens to feel threatened by the “others.” Conspiracy theories eagerly promoted online by the far right to gain power. Now, what can be done? That’s where we hit the wall.
