Edinburgh parents slams ‘horrible’ conspiracy theorists targeting children at school gates

Concerned Edinburgh parents have raised their concerns over a man in a colourful shirt handing out conspiracy theory flyers outside a city primary school.

On Thursday morning, the man was seen handing out flyers to young James Gillespie’s pupils and parents.

There is a worry that children could become confused and scared about the information that is being distributed on the flyers.

One James Gillespie parent criticised those targeting the pupils and said that they felt the incident was ‘horrible’ and that if they wanted to debate issues, then do so with adults.

“It’s horrible to hand out these leaflets to primary school kids and it could really scare them,” they said.

“They won’t understand the fact the guy is spreading conspiracy theories and could take the information literally and feel very worried.

“Fair enough talking to adults and debating the issues, but turning up at school during the busiest time and targeting young children is very wrong.”

On June 7, police had to be called to Roseburn primary school after a group of conspiracy theorists handed out leaflets to school children asking them to sign up to their website and in return they would get free pizza.

This raised alarm among parents and that school as children would have had to give their address when trying to claim the free pizza.

There were multiple claims that the media is silencing various topics as well as a fundraiser for £3.6million to start a new newsletter company in the UK that will look to cover topics relating to censorship that were handed out at the time.

One parent, who happened to be a doctor, said that those flyering outside of Roseburn were using aggressive tactics.

The Edinburgh City Council have said that they are aware of the incident outside of James Gillespie’s primary and that they will continue to monitor the situation closely.

They add that at no point was this individual on school premises.
