Surgeon who repeated false claims about covid and vaccines while suspended is struck off

A consultant colorectal surgeon who was suspended for spreading misinformation about covid and vaccines has been struck off after he repeated his false claims online during his suspension.

Muhammad Adil, 64, who worked as a locum at Oldham and North Manchester hospitals, was suspended for six months by a medical practitioners tribunal in June 2022 for Twitter posts and YouTube videos in which he called the pandemic a “worldwide conspiracy” and claimed that the vaccine was ineffective and toxic.

Adil apologised for the videos before that tribunal, calling his comments “silly.” But in November 2022, he returned to Twitter. “Covid is only a flu virus. It has not killed people,” he wrote. “Vaccine is neither safe, nor effective and destroys your bodily immune system.”
