22,000 Women Studied–Here’s What Happened After COVID-19 Vaccines

Researchers in Norway studied 22,000 women during the pandemic. They wanted to understand what happened to their menstrual cycles after they took the COVID-19 vaccine.

They looked at women of different ages, including many who had already gone through the menopause. The study lasted for about nine months.

Here’s what they found:

  • 13.1% of women who hadn’t hit the menopause experienced at least one unexpected bleed after receiving a COVID-19 shot.

Half of those bleeds occurred within the first four weeks after getting the vaccine.

Compared to previous vaccination campaigns, the reports of menstrual disturbances came in at frequencies that had not been seen before.
