Fact Check: FAKE Simpsons Scene Shows Woman Defeating Trump — Lisa Simpson Defeats ‘Kenny Hitler’ In Real Episode

Fact Check: FAKE Simpsons Scene Shows Woman Defeating Trump -- Lisa Simpson Defeats 'Kenny Hitler' In Real Episode

Altered Image

Does a scene from an episode of “The Simpsons” show that Lisa Simpson would win an election against former President Donald Trump? No, that’s not true: An image from an episode in which Trump did not appear was altered to substitute Trump’s likeness, including the bandage he wore after a July, 2024 assassination attempt. The episode actually features a different, fictitious candidate.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Instagram on July 24, 2024. In the post, the image below the counterfeit Simpsons frame is a side-by-side pair of photos of Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that “The Simpsons” predicted she would be the woman to beat Trump. The caption of the post read:

Will Kamala win? 🤔 #foocommunity

This is what the post looked like on Instagram at the time of writing:

Lead Stories used Google’s reverse image search feature to learn more about the image. The search (archived here) included many variations of the image. However, the search led us to a GIF (archived here) that was seemingly created based on the episode in question. The episode was the fifth episode of the 29th season, titled “Grampy Can Ya Hear Me” (archived here).

Lead Stories viewed the episode using Disney+ to find the scene begins around the 12:40 mark of the episode. It shows a dream Lisa Simpson has after changing a word on an already submitted school paper. In the dream, she is a presidential candidate who wins against a candidate named “Kenny Hitler” (archived here), only to have that win revoked when the announcer reports that “she cheated on a paper in second grade — she is disqualified.” A screenshot of the authentic scene, taken from Disney+, is shown below:
