Melania Trump Pushes Vague Assassination Attempt Conspiracy Theory in Video Promoting Her New Book
“There is definitely more to the story and we need to uncover the truth,” the former first lady said in a video posted to X
Melania Trump is spreading doubt about what happened on the day her husband, former President Donald Trump, was shot at his Pennsylvania campaign rally.
Teasing her upcoming memoir Melania — which is set to release on Oct. 8, per The Hollywood Reporter — the former first lady shared a video on X, hinting at a controversial topic that she implies will be covered in the book.
Referring to the July 13 shooting, during which the former president was hit in the ear by a bullet, Melania says to the camera, “The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience.” She adds, “Now, the silence around it feels heavy.”
While a task force was set up to investigate the assassination attempt, Melania says she still has some questions.
“I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech?” she says. Melania ends the video by saying, “There is definitely more to the story and we need to uncover the truth.”
As with most other high-profile assassination attempts, numerous conspiracy theories began cropping up almost immediately after Donald was shot, largely centered around how the shooter was able to skirt Secret Service and miss the former president’s head so narrowly.
Some have suggested that the assassination attempt was an inside job orchestrated by President Joe Biden, while others have accused the Trump campaign of staging it to boost his poll numbers. There is no compelling evidence to support either theory, making Melania’s veiled claim a stunning departure from her usual pattern of staying out of Donald’s political affairs.

The new video is not the first time the former first lady has spoken up about the assassination attempt. The day after the campaign rally, Melania posted a statement on X about fearing for her family’s lives and her hopes for the future.
“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” she said in the statement. “I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”

She ended the statement by saying, “For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide — thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family.”
