Trump Floats Rigged Election Theory Before Polls Even Close: ‘Massive CHEATING’

Former President Donald Trump, who has said he will not concede the presidential election if he loses, stoked rumors of voter fraud on Tuesday before the polls closed.

Trump infamously and falsely claimed the 2020 election was stolen from him by Democrats who rigged the contest for President Joe Biden. After losing, Trump pressured officials in states he lost to try to get them to overturn the results. When that failed, he urged then-Vice President Mike Pence to refuse to certify the election as the presiding officer in Congress. After Pence declined, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol after Trump held a rally in Washington, D.C., where he told the group to march to the Capitol.

As a result, the former president is under federal indictment in Washington, D.C., and faces state charges in Georgia. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Polls in this election show a tight race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, whose campaign has been working to turn out low-propensity voters, especially in urban areas where Democrats typically dominate. That includes Philadelphia, which could play a pivotal role in helping deliver Pennsylvania – a crucial swing state – to the vice president.

A little before 5 p.m. ET, Trump took to Truth Social and wrote:

A lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming!!!

It is unclear what set Trump off. Shortly before his post, MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff reported from a polling place at Temple University in Philadelphia, where the reporter ran into actor Paul Rudd giving out water to the largely young crowd of voters waiting in line to cast ballots.

Trump also baselessly claimed that were it not for “millions” voting illegally in 2016, he would have won the popular vote. Additionally, Trump also baselessly claimed the 2016 Iowa caucuses were rigged after he lost that election.
