No, Harris Didn’t Post ‘Haters’ Were Correct After 2024 Election

Claim:

A post on U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ official X account after she lost the 2024 presidential election to President-elect Donald Trump stated: “The haters said I couldn’t do it. And they were correct. Honestly great call from the haters.”

On Nov. 7, 2024, days after Democratic nominee and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris lost to the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump, in the presidential election, an image purporting to be a screenshot of an X post from Harris’ official account went viral. The alleged post read, “The haters said I couldn’t do it. And they were correct. Honestly great call from the haters.”

(X user @Rothmus)

The screenshot was fake. We found no evidence of it on Harris’ official X account, nor did we find any real link connecting it to a deleted post.

Were the post real, it would have made headline news given its controversial nature. There was no news coverage at all. Not even a Google search of the post’s contents turned up authentic results.

On Nov. 6, 2024, Harris’ X account posted a real thread about the outcome of the 2024 election. It made no mention of “haters.”

My heart is full today—full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, full of love for our country, and full of resolve. The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, but hear me when I say: the light of America’s promise will always burn bright. We must accept the results of this election.

Earlier today, I spoke with President Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I told him that we will help him and his team with that transition, and we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power.

The X account that originally posted the image, @Rothmus, has a history of sharing pro-Trump political content, sometimes as joke posts adorned with laughing emojis.
