Fact Check: Trump Did NOT Post That Joe Scarborough ‘Approached Me Like A Scolded Dog’ At Mar-a-Lago

Fact Check: Trump Did NOT Post That Joe Scarborough 'Approached Me Like A Scolded Dog' At Mar-a-Lago

No Record

Did Donald Trump post on his Truth Social account that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough “approached me like a scolded dog” during a post-election meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence? No, that’s not true: Lead Stories searched the president-elect’s profile and found no evidence that he had written such a thing. A search of a site that archives Trump’s Truth Social posts yielded no matches, and no news media outlets reported about Trump writing such a post.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X on November 18, 2024, with the caption “Joe and Mika deserve this and more.” The text read:

This morning ‘Morning’ Joe and Mika, who owe their careers to me, went on their show and claimed to have met with me. They made it sound like we had a summit. The truth is, Joe begged to meet with me after our Big Win, and when I finally agreed, he approached me like a scolded dog. He should consider himself lucky I didn’t have him thrown out of beautiful Mar-a-Lago. Mika was charming, as usual.

This is how the post looked on X at the time of writing:

Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of the “Morning Joe” show on MSNBC, said they had met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, on November 15, 2024 (see the 0:15 mark of the “Morning Joe” broadcast from November 18, 2024). Scarborough, a noted Trump critic, said, “We didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of issues, and we told him so.”

However, there is no evidence that Trump said Scarborough had “approached me like a scolded dog” or that he “should consider himself lucky I didn’t have him thrown out of beautiful Mar-a-Lago.” Lead Stories checked Trump’s Truth Social account and found no evidence of such a post at the time of writing.

Archived versions of Trump’s profile were not searchable on the Wayback Machine at the time of writing. However, using trumpstruth.org, Lead Stories was able to search Trump’s posts on Truth Social and found no matches for the post that appeared on X (archived here).

There were also no media reports on Trump making the “scolded dog” comment. Lead Stories searched Google News on November 19, 2024, and found only copies of the purported post and fact checks by other organizations (archived here).

Lead Stories has contacted Trump’s media team and will update this story if they reply.
