Trump Says He Will Expedite The Release Of JFK, Robert Kennedy, MLK Assassination Files
President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he would release classified documents in the coming days concerning the assassinations of US President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert Kennedy, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Speaking at a rally in downtown Washington ahead of his second, non-consecutive term, Trump reiterated a campaign promise to make public intelligence and law enforcement files related to these high-profile murders. While he released some JFK assassination files during his first term from 2017 to 2021, a significant number remained classified due to national security concerns raised by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“In the coming days, we are going to make public remaining records related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, as well as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other topics of great public interest,” Trump said.
Although Trump did not specify which documents would be disclosed or commit to a full declassification, his announcement has renewed attention on these events.
Both Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy were assassinated in 1968, while John F. Kennedy’s 1963 murder continues to captivate the American public.
Official accounts attribute JFK’s death to a lone gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald, a conclusion reaffirmed by federal investigations. However, polls indicate that many Americans suspect a broader conspiracy.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the son of Robert Kennedy and nephew of JFK, who has been nominated as Trump’s health and human services secretary, has voiced his belief that the CIA was involved in JFK’s death, a claim dismissed by the agency as baseless.
Kennedy Jr. has also alleged that his father’s assassination involved multiple gunmen, contradicting the official version of events.
