Jasmine Crockett All But Dares House Colleagues to Say Russia Invaded Ukraine in Heated House Hearing

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) challenged her colleagues to plainly state that Russia invaded Ukraine in light of President Donald Trump’s recent stance on the European conflict.
While discussing his efforts to end the war, Trump — to the surprise of many — has suggested that Ukraine started it. He recently called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator” and criticized his government for not ending the war sooner.
That stance has proven to be polarizing. During a Monday meeting with Trump in the White House, French President Emmanuel Macron made it clear to the media that he viewed Russia as the aggressor.
During a House hearing Wednesday, Crockett spoke about lies and conspiracy theories when called out Trump and her Republican colleagues for their apparent reluctance to state the fact that Russia invaded Ukraine.
“It is time for us to say, ‘Mr. President, guess what? Russia invaded Ukraine!’” Crocket said. “Can we at least agree on that one. Facts matter! This is literally, potentially putting us into an international crisis! We may be heading toward the next World War because we have a president that wants to pal around with [Russian President Vladimir Putin] and wants to do everything to make him feel good — including lying about who invaded who.
“Mr. Chair, I got a minute left; but I really want to yield to any of my colleagues and ask them if they will say today that, very basically, that when it came down to the war in Ukraine, that it was not Ukraine that invaded Russia. It was the other way around. Is there anybody in here that has enough courage to say that Russia invaded Ukraine?”
That question was met with silence in the chamber.
“And this is yet the problem!” Crockett continued. “This is the problem! That is not infringing upon free speech!”
