Checkoff-funded research showing health benefits of seed oils

A farmer leader with the United Soybean Board says seed oils can benefit consumer health and help drive soybean demand.
Wisconsin farmer Sara Stelter says recent checkoff-funded research is showing the benefits of seed oils to a healthy diet.
“It’s showing us over and over again that it’s beneficial with a high Linoleic acid, it helps with the reduction of inflammation, type 2 diabetes, and helps with bad cholesterol.”
She tells Brownfield the checkoff continues to focus on research to expand new uses for soybeans.
“It’s a valuable partner with the Soy Nutrition Health Institute, which is SNI Global,” she says. “Through SNI Global we are funding research projects that show the importance of soy in our diets.”
Stelter says the soy checkoff is also working with other commodity groups to further study the impacts of seed oils on the ag industry.
