Sen. Ron Johnson pondering hearing on debunked 9/11 conspiracy theories

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Wisconsin Republican senator Ron Johnson is considering a new round of congressional hearings.
It’s to investigate already debunked conspiracy theories about the September 11th attacks. On a podcast this week, he focused on a debunked claim about building 7 that collapsed hours after the twin towers fell.
He suggests it was a controlled demolition. Adding, quote, “my guess is there’s an awful lot being covered up in terms of what the American government knows about 9/11.”
New York republican congressman Mike Lawler says Johnson should stop peddling conspiracy theories.
Johnson is the chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. That position gives him the authority to call on hearings. His office told Politico whether or not they happen depends on “what information/documentation is obtained by our office.”
