Pediatrics, pulmonary disease and vaccine information/misinformation.

A pediatric pharmacist with expertise in vaccination and vaccine hesitancy, William (Bill)  Prescott can speak to the media about the importance of vaccinations, the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and how to counter vaccine hesitancy rooted in misinformation.

According to Prescott, “Misinformation and disinformation are not new, but they are more relevant than ever. We have so much information at our fingertips, and it can be very difficult to separate fact from fiction, especially with the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence. It is our responsibility as health professionals to keep abreast of new vaccine recommendations and policy. We need to work collaboratively to educate patients about vaccines and the seriousness of the diseases they prevent, with the goal of enhancing vaccine access and improving vaccine acceptance.”

Prescott has spoken to local and national audiences on matters relating to vaccines and vaccine hesitancy, and his work on this important and timely topic has been published in books and peer-reviewed scientific journals. Prescott has authored more than 100 research papers and abstracts centering on pediatrics, pulmonary therapeutics, immunization, misinformation, and pharmacy education.

In March 2025, he was appointed an associate editor of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE).
