An Arizona lawmaker’s proposal to ban fluoride in the state’s public drinking water would defy decades of research and, according to dental experts, lead to more tooth decay among residents.
The bill filed before the state Legislature begins its 2026 session by Sen. Janae Shamp, a Republican from Surprise, would prohibit any person or governmental entity “from adding fluoride into a public water system or any water that will be introduced into a public water system.”
