Vaccine hesitancy offers time to reflect, not delude

Vaccine hesitancy has been studied for decades, and most of the reasons are understandable. Some people worry about safety or side effects. Others believe the diseases are no longer serious because vaccines have made them rare. Misinformation spreads easily online. Trust in government, medicine, and pharmaceutical companies has declined. For many people, hesitancy reflects questions, not rejection. Thoughtful conversations often help.
But research shows there is a smaller group that does not simply hesitate, they refuse outright. And their refusal is often rooted less in facts than in identity.
