Twitter was, well, Twitter during the vice-presidential debate Wednesday night.
Houston voices were in it early, putting out 240 characters worth of thoughts on the arguments between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. The debate contrasted last week’s presidential debate in civility, but that’s just about the only difference.
Neither candidate spent much time answering any actual questions from debate moderator Susan Page, who spent little to no time stopping Pence from talking over his time limit.
Pence has a lot of experience talking over women.

Mike Hixenbaugh, a Houstonian reporting for NBC News, pointed out some apparent hypocrisy in the Trump administration’s answers for its COVID-19 response.
The impossible dual messages of the Trump campaign: COVID is just like the flu, AND it would have killed millions if not for Trump.

Houston’s vaccine hero Dr. Peter Hotez set the record straight on accusations about whether Joe Biden was anti-vaccine.
Accusing @JoeBiden @KamalaHarris of being anti-vaccine? Let’s call it out: It was the Trump campaign that re-energized antivax movement in 2015 causing a pivot to the political right, now escalating into a global anti-science confederacy. My details here https://t.co/pOXcsYvBEP

Houston (sort of) had a shout-out when Pence claimed we’ve seen fewer hurricanes than we did 100 years ago. Evan “Build The Ike Dike” Mintz chimed in.

Dan Rather (who we totally claim in Houston) gave us a little bit of insight into his favorite Disney princesses:
The impossible dual messages of the Trump campaign: COVID is just like the flu, AND it would have killed millions if not for Trump.

And Michael Berry had some very Michael Berry-type thoughts.
The lesson here is don’t commit to a demographic restriction as your running mate before you find the best candidate. #VPDebate

Notably silent was Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who hinted last week that he’s not a fan of these somewhat unproductive debates.
We don’t need another debate. Please don’t put the country through this trauma again. That’s enough. st

Houston Chronicle lifestyle columnist Joy Sewing had the receipts on Pence interrupting Harris.
VP #MikePence interrupted @KamalaHarris 10 times. @CBSEveningNews #VPDebate
