A QAnon conference, apparently, is rather like church. Benign elderly couples introduce themselves to the people sitting next to them. A man standing at the front solemnly reads passages from scripture. Except the man also urges the congregation to check that the people sitting next to them aren’t from the media.

And the scripture (revealed to followers on the internet forum 8chan) isn’t about loving your neighbour or the baroque complexities of who begat whom in Iron Age Palestine. It’s all about how the US government is run by Satan-worshipping paedophiles led by Hillary Clinton. The Bible, for all its occasional eccentricities, is commendably unforthcoming on this front.
