Facebook page for Covid conspiracy theorists has hundreds of thousands of followers

Facebook pages belonging to members of a group known for spreading Covid-19 conspiracy theories have accumulated a growing following despite the social media giant removing its main page, research has found.

A study by the UK-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) found that members of the World Doctors Alliance (WDA), a self-described group of health professionals who have united to end lockdowns, now have more than half a million followers on their Facebook pages — a 13,000 per cent increase since the start of the pandemic.

One of the group’s most prominent figures is its founding member Dolores Cahill, a former University College Dublin professor who has made false claims about Covid-19 pandemic, the disease and vaccines. She was prevented from entering the count centre
