Vaccine passports for ‘fully vaccinated’ people may soon only be given to people with all three doses.

The Government is scrambling to get booster shots in arms as coronavirus cases soar to more than 50,000 a day. Uptake has been fairly slow, but Brits may now have a new incentive.

Care minister Gillian Keegan said the definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ – which people now usually need to travel without doing a PCR test – might soon be changed to include all three doses.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast on Friday, Ms Keegan said: ‘The advice at the moment is the double jabbed vaccination. But of course that will evolve over time as the third dose comes in.

‘It would be unreasonable to say right now when we’ve only just started the programme, we’re trying to get this balance. It’s two doses for now. ‘But as the vaccine passport concept will evolve there will be “if you’ve had your booster” because it’s probably not going to be good for next summer.’

Several favourite holiday destinations only allow fully vaccinated people to enter the country without doing expensive PCR tests or having to quarantine. Once in the country visitors usually need vaccine passports to enter bars, restaurants and other public venues.
