‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Chanted at QAnon-Linked Church Event in Texas

A crowd at a church in Texas hosting a QAnon-linked event erupted in a “let’s go Brandon” chant that had been encouraged from the stage.

Video has emerged showing the crowd at pastor and televangelists’ John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church in San Antonio singing the thinly veiled attack on President Joe Biden during the controversial “ReAwaken America” conference.

Another clip shows that the “let’s go Brandon” chant—which Donald Trump supporters use as a direct replacement for the “f**k Joe Biden” chant—did not erupt spontaneously, but instead was led by those on stage.

From November 11 to 13, the Cornerstone Church held the controversial “ReAwaken America” conference in which Trump allies and other conservative figures pushed COVID-19 vaccine skepticism and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

On November 13, Trump’s former national security adviser-turned-QAnon icon Michael Flynn called for the U.S. to only have one religion while speaking at the Christian event.

“If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion. One nation under God and one religion under God,” Flynn said

The “ReAwaken America,” hosted by Thrivetime Show podcast host Clay Clark, has featured other prominent conspiracy theorists, including MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, outspoken QAnon believer and podcast host Ann Vandersteel, and pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood.

Rev. Dr. Chuck Currie, a minister in the United Church of Christ in Portland, Oregon, condemned the footage of the “let’s go Brandon” chant being sung at the church.

“Any Christian church that engages in the white Christian nationalism that John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church does has long forsaken the teachings of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. And for those confused, QAnon is incompatible with Christianity,” Currie tweeted.

Josh Mandel, Ohio’s former state treasurer and current Republican Senate candidate, described the clip of the church crowd chanting “let’s go Brandon” as “amazing.”

“Pastor John Hagee is the founder of Christians United for Israel. He is a leader among leaders in protecting the Judeo-Christian bedrock of America,” Mandel tweeted.

The “let’s go Brandon” catchphrase stems from NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast claiming on air that a section of the crowd at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama were chanting “let’s go Brandon” in support of NASCAR driver Brandon Brown following his victory, instead of “f**k Joe Biden.”

Since then, “Let’s go Brandon” has become a popular meme and a direct replacement for the explicit “f**k Joe Biden” which had been heard at major sporting live events and music venues for several weeks.

The “let’s go Brandon” chant broke out while Trump was speaking at The America First Policy Institute event in the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on November 5.

In response, Trump said: “I still like the first phrase better somehow. It’s more accurate.”
