Maria Shriver Responds to the QAnon Obsession with JFK Jr

Maria Shriver has responded to the bizarre QAnon conspiracy theory involving her late uncle, John F. Kennedy and his son, JFK Jr.

Shriver, a journalist who is JFK’s niece and JFK Jr.’s cousin, responded to the strange story on Twitter by sharing an MSNBC segment from anchor Brian Williams. During the report, Williams described the followers of QAnon as “lost souls,” and urged viewers to respect the memory of both men and honor the losses that the Kennedy family has suffered, rather than indulge QAnon “cult members or conspiracy theorists.”

“Well said, Brian Williams,” Shriver Tweeted alongside the footage of Williams. “He’s right, you never get over these losses. I know many others struggle with theirs, as well. Go kindly into the days.”

In case you’ve been fortunate enough to miss this saga, here’s a rundown: followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory gathered on Monday at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, where JFK was assassinated in 1963. Their goal is to witness the former president, and/or his son, returning from the grave to announce either that former President Donald Trump has been reinstated in the White House, and/or or that JFK Jr. will be his running mate in 2024. And they reportedly chose Monday because it marked the 58-year anniversary of the assassination.

The Kennedy family has suffered several devastating losses over the years. A few decades after JFK’s assassination, in July of 1999, his son John F Kennedy Jr. died in a plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, alongside his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy; and her sister, Lauren Bessette.
