Lorraine hit with barrage of Ofcom complaints after controversial Covid remark (Lie)
ITV daytime show Lorraine has been hit with a flood of Ofcom complaints after host Lorraine Kelly made a controversial remark during a segment about Covid vaccines.
The show received a further 254 complaints to the broadcasting watchdog for the segment which aired on December 7.
More than 1,300 complaints were filed when the segment first aired.
Ofcom initially reported that 1,312 people complained about the episode, which stated the complaints “related to a discussion about the number of unvaccinated people in hospital”.
Appearing on the daytime show, GP Dr Hilary said: “Those people who haven’t been vaccinated, we’d really love you to think again and be vaccinated.”
Lorraine replied: “That’s a figure that we have to really concentrate on, 90% of people in hospital have not been vaccinated.”
Viewers of the show were left outraged as they revealed the figures were incorrect.
According to Full Fact, The Economist claimed in October that 80-90% of hospitalised patients were unvaccinated.
The organisation concluded that the figure is now closer to 35 per cent.
