McCain Institute Joins In Effort To Condemn QAnon Conspiracy Theory

The McCain Institute and dozens of other organizations have signed a letter condemning the far-right group QAnon and its conspiracy-based theories.

There are concerns that the group is interfering with legitimate efforts to battle sex trafficking.

The ASU-based McCain Institute targets human trafficking and other human rights issues. The institute says that QAnon’s allegations about an international child-trafficking ring are false, politically motivated and harmful to legitimate human rights groups.

“We were proud to join that letter,” said Luke Knittig, a spokesman with the McCain Institute. “Sad that it’s come to a point where a letter like that is necessary, but QAnon and related nonsense and sadly, violence is getting in the way of real people trying to take on what, sadly, is a scourge in society.”

The ASU Office of Sex Trafficking Research and the Phoenix Dream Center also signed the letter.
